Manuel Palacio, Principal @ Valley Inquiry Charter School and Scott Elementary School (part-time)

Q1: How long have you worked in the district?

"I have been working for the district since September, 2000. I am currently on my 15th year with the district."

Q2: What is the best part of your job?

"The best part of my job is when I visit classrooms and work with students. I like to make connections with them that will help with their success in the classroom. I also enjoy when I can provide meaningful professional development to my staff."

Q3: What is a challenge you face in your job?

"As the principal of Valley Inquiry, I have found it challenging to navigate through the different state and local requirements for a charter school. One of my priorities has been to make sure that we have sufficient resources for the staff in order to provide our students with the best education possible."

Q4: Who was one of your favorite teachers?

"One of my favorite teachers was my English teacher in junior high during my first year in the United States. She cared very much that I learn English. Since we did not have ELL instruction at my school, she would take time to teach me English individually while the rest of the class would be working independently."

Q5: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

"I enjoy going to the movies with my loving wife Maria. One of my hobbies is to referee youth and adult soccer games on the weekends."
